Patch v1.1 for CTDP 2006

Good morning!

As you guys may know we’re working on the CTDP 2006 Patch v1.1. But it has become more than a patch. There were some physics changes as well as a lot of graphical bugfixes. Caused by physicchanges old setups can be useless.  So at the moment we’re testing the patch to see if we resolved all the bugs we had in our bugtracker. The whole patch will be around 700MB. There will be a v1.1 fullinstaller as well as a new server edition. While the patch installer became pretty big, the server edition is really small. 13 MB contains everything you need to run a dedicated server with CTDP 2006. But you have to remove the v1.0 DSE Installation first BEFORE you install the new, small DSE version.

About a possible releasedate… well you guys know us 😉 It’s done when it’s done, but you guys can be sure we have something special for you on releaseday. The patch and the fullinstaller will be released as torrent only for about a week. After v1.0 release we had 15 http mirrors and ALL of them crashed after a while because of the heavy traffic. So torrent is our only choice for this time.

Music, the great recipee for taking a break from all your troubles

Ok first the real news: Soundtrack of CTDP 2006 is released

Lars did all the music in the mod and put them all in a cool netrelease. We didn’t include all of them in the release of the mod, more will be included with the path 1.1. So if you want to hear them all here. I really like, that he put it under Creative Commons-license, so feel free to remix. 😉

On other news. Well there is not much.
Of course, right before the release of CTDP06 and the imidiate weeks afterwards had alot to talk and write about. In January for many of us real life kicked back in, for me in way of exam weeks and now my Bachelor thesis. Alex has been working alot on the patch. I’m not sure how much there is to do yet, obviously it will need some testing before it gets released. Looking at the changelog, it’ll deserve the term “patch” 🙂

Marco, Mediocre work on 1994, but you know, since they posted here before. Andy while taking a small detour from modding formula-cars and working on a fantasy touring-car project and on the new Bahrain-version. There our biggest bottleneck is the lack of more trackmodders. Our call for help with the AIW wasn’t really successfull, so work is a bit slow. Another bottleneck being, that we lack a good helmet-modeller. Our helmets for 1994 need more attention and while Marco is doing his best, somebody who knows what he is doing would be very helpfull right now.

So much for today, I go back to catching up with work and life and listen to some music.

CTDP 2006 V1.1 patch progress

I am back in full swing after an extended Xmas vacation.  We have had many reports about things from various forums, some of these things we fix.  In some cases  we’ve ignored  requests if they are not deemed serious enough, or they are simply too much work at this stage, that is mainly things like an extra or new feature.

In spite of that a substantial amount of work has already been put into the patch.  For sure we hope that we will have addressed ALL the serious issues in the new version, with a few more minor things and extra requests thrown in as well.

I hope to see this patch close to finalisation at the end of next week ready for packaging. I still have to check with some of our physics guys how much there is to do, so it is an approximate figure, but for sure we are not talking months but weeks/days.

We now all have other things to work as well, so ultimately we have to draw the line on CTDP 2006  mod, that was such a joy, but at some point we have to say “END IT”  Hopefully that will be the 1.1 patch.  A v1.2 would only address anything that was overlooked in 1.1, or gone seriously wrong  i.e. mistakes that are “crtitical” but hopefully a 1.2 will not be needed.

I made the 3D arms addon too, so that will be ready around the same time as this patch. I have send them to one external tester to try out already, he reported no bugs in an earlier version I sent. so that addon will be delivered too.

Maintance

On friday January 16th at 8pm gmt, our host will move the servers to a new location. So we expect a downtime between 20pm to 3am. So don’t be surprised or worried when our website can’t be reached at this time. Also, don’t evenget the idea we’d be down because of another release. Infact, the site survived the release in december surprisingly well. 😉

Tracks: call for help

Andy has been working on the new version of Bahrain since the release of CTDP06. He is nearly finished with his work, but there is one thing he can’t do and where we need support. Our track-department is quite small at the moment, since Iggy(formerly known as Salex) has left. We miss somebody who knows his way with AIW creation for scratch-made tracks. So, if you have experience with this work and you’d like to support us, contact Andy. Please add a note on previous track projects.

Thank you for your attention.

Templates & Viewer release

Ok, took a few days, but I finally finished work on the templates. This involved 3 parts:

  • The templates itself is an archive with all psd-templates for all cars (all teams + SA06 and Safetycar).
  • The viewer, which is the ISI gMotor Viewer from the SDK. We included Scene-Files for our cars, so you can preview your textures in the actual game engine.
  • Documentation about the templates and the viewer.

I order you to paint, I want to see great cars! 🙂

CTDP Preview Race on PSRTV

PSRTV would like to apologize to anyone that experienced technical difficulties during the CTDP preview race this past weekend. One of our service providers experienced a serious issue on Saturday that disrupted connectivity during the event. To prevent outages like this from disrupting service in the future we have implemented an improved redundancy system this week. In addition, the ProSimRacing.com website which saw heavy traffic during the event has been updated to handle additional load. Thank you for your continued support.

For anyone that missed the event live you can watch the broadcast replay at www.psrtv.com.

Congratulations to CTDP on another outstanding F1 mod!

Sincerely,
PSRTV Dev Team
ProSimRacing.com

Note: PSRTV scales bandwidth for broadcast events based on need. The issue afflicting Saturday’s race was due to an unrelated incident, which has since been resolved.

Supported track

The mod doesn’t include any tracks, but the mod supports many tracks. This is used for the upgrades, which change automatically to the according upgrades.

Some reported “missing tracks”. Missing is relative, because we can’t know all tracknames that exist out there, so we already called twice to get lists of tracks, we should support and we do so know. This trackname will be added in the next version of the mod, which will be the last chance to add new tracks.

Call for Kittens

Take a deep breath, Dahie, calm down, bite your tongue, break a pencil, do anything, but don’t let it out on the email-writer. *conscious breathing*

I’m working through the emails we got during the last days, many leagues, many nice words, a few repeating bug reports. (I’m impressed how many use the DX8 mode! :))

And so I got another few mails with people apologising for their English. I’d like to try a new method, which originally was used to stop people from smoking: Everytime I get a mail of somebody apologising, I’m going to to kill a kitten. I like kittens, but I’m allergic, so you see what self-sacrafice I’m willing to take by killing one each time I read this annoying PS-BS! I’m a patient guy, I can laugh at dumb mails and hate comments, I like to handle the emails, because I like to read what everyone has to say, but this really gets me nuclear (nucular)! Everytime I read it, I have to swallow and something inside dies! I don’t know if I can make the world a better place, but if I could stop everyone from apologising for speaking or breathing, I think I would have succeeded! Self-deprecation is fun, devotion can be as well, but apologising for your language skills is neither! One day, if I rob a Walmart, I will be sorry for my english. Untill then, please quit it, do me this favour, this single favour for the guy on the mail-counter and don’t have him to kill the kittens. Please! … Because I don’t have any …
